Hope

History is the proof that if humans have the audacity to hope they also have the capacity to make their hopes come true.

Almost all the people who were responsible for a breakthrough were once labelled insane because they believed in something considered to be impossible. Our world is a materialistic sphere which encourages actions rather than speculations because guesswork cannot pay bills.

Every discovery starts with a wild conjecture which receives more criticism rather than appreciation. It’s not an easy task to implement something which lies on the spectrum of so-called impossibility. But even in a world like this, there are some people who would choose to be a dreamer rather than a skeptic realist; I am one of them. I believe there’s only a thin line of skepticism between possibility and impossibility which can be erased with hope; where there’s hope there’s a possibility.

If our ancestors hadn’t hoped for security we would still be living in the woods.

If people hadn’t hoped for wings then roaming in the sky would never have been possible.

It was hope which led the hypothesis to reality. Hope is the reason for our existence, the day we lose hope we cease to exist. We humans always search for an idea to put our hopes upon. We have entrusted our hope to numerous ideas which have paved our way to evolution.

If an idea of change can generate hope for a better future, any change will seem possible and achievable. And history is the proof that if humans have the audacity to hope they also have the capacity to make their hopes come true.

    2. That’s sort of harsh.
Hope is fickle. It is never constant. Some have it, some don’t. But that doesn’t mean that the one’s who don’t have it have no meaning to live at all. Change comes from within. If a hopeful person fails to inspire a hopeless person, what is the use of all that hope anyway?

      1. What you are saying is very true. I’m pretty sure Shyam meant nothing harsh. Nobody feels hopeful constantly. But I believe, even if hope might not seem to exist in a conscious level it does exist in a subconscious level.

  19. Powerful messages. Enjoyed reading this. Sort of resonates with a poem by an English poet called Emily Dickinson, “Hope Is The Thing With Feathers” which is about hope being the most faithful and inexhaustible companion we have.

  37. What an interesting topic to post on!

Your post reminds me of the ancient Greek debate about hope. I don’t know whether you’ve heard of it or not. Please forgive me if I’m just repeating what you already know, Nirdeshika.

The debate lasted for centuries until the Christians came along and settled it with their Bible by declaring hope was a virtue. But to the Greeks that had been debatable up until then.

I forget all of the talking points, but of what I can still recall, one side said hope made people lazy and blind. Lazy because someone would sit around doing nothing instead of trying to change things because they hoped things would get better on their own. Blind because hope kept people from seeing the full evil of their situations.

The other side more or less said what we say of hope today. That it sustains folks while they reach their goals, etc.

Just thought that might interest you.
