Stereotypes

No one is meant to be perfect, that is why pencils have erasers.

In today’s world of stereotypes, everyone seeks to protrude but ends up as replications of one another.

In the quest of being ‘perfect’, we are losing our originality.

The society is entangled in this web of so-called perfection and is failing to acknowledge the significance of flaws in one’s personality.

  6. Will Rogers once pointed out that most of us can neither learn from books nor from our observations of other people, but rather must “pee on the electric fence ourselves.” The four arrows you shot at perfectionism each struck their mark, I believe, but few of us will learn from witnessing your archery.

As I see it, that is not something to be sad about, Nirdeshika, it’s something to accept about human nature — accept so we can love ourselves and others anyway.

Yet, I believe I have seen how those of us who try to communicate wisdom so often end up improving our own lives, even if we improve few other lives. In trying to speak truths to others there is the clarification of our own thoughts, there is the firming up of our wisdom.

I read your insights tonight and thought them so well formulated that I now suspect you are — or at least will be — very wise.

    1. That is true. There was a time when I was sad about not being the perfect self the society expects of me but now I have learnt to accept my flaws because these flaws constitute my personality. Thank you for reading and giving your opinion.

    Nice post!!!

Perfection starts with standards. Who defines them? Are they always the same?

    1. Thank you 🙂 The scariest thing about perfection is that it is never constant. One may finally feel close to perfection but the changing definition will again push the person far away from being perfect.

Yes i agree with you!! There is always something you can be doing “better” – an aspect of your personal or professional life you could be tweaking, improving, perfecting.

strive for excellence for nothing is perfect or can be perfect.
stereotypes —- is society’s failure to recognize the individual behind the facade. we all want to “fit in” but learn later to fit in is to be the person you are and not what someone else says or thinks you are.
as Popeye would say, “i am what i am.”
people forget it is ok to disagree. if we all thought alike, what a boring world this would be.
just be respectful of ones views/thought/ideas even if you dont agree

    1. That is very true. I’m sorry if my words reflect disrespect for other views. It’s just that stereotypes have always made me insecure and have hindered my confidence so I have a certain hatred for this matter. But if someone finds excellence in perfection then I have no objection for people striving towards perfection.

  10. Wise words about perfection!

Although the concept of perfectibility is so very important to many of us, the ability to find ultimate perfection can prove elusive. The search is often more important than the destiny. 🙂

    1. That is very true. Instead of embracing the journey we tend to obsess over the outcome. Thank you for stopping by 🙂

Today many focus on social media to find their (fake) mirror-image, all wanting to be better, smarter and richer than they are, plus able to outshine others.

That is what our world makes so crazy and going wrong, having lots of people with burn out and depression, not feeling happy in their skin.
